82 core products. 5,473 active variations. One WordPress theme built for this catalogue.
PROKEVIN TEX manufactures and distributes workwear, PPE and personalisable textiles for companies across Romania. They needed a store that could organise a catalogue of thousands of variations without making product selection harder, explain their four personalisation services (embroidery, heat transfer, screen printing, DTF) in language a buyer can actually use when requesting a quote, and reflect the personalisation work done in their own workshop. We built it from scratch on a single WordPress block theme, with no visual page builder and plugins limited to what the store needed.

The challenge
The supplier catalogues arrived with 5,473 product variations, spread across 9 overlapping categories ("Winter" hats also tagged "Summer", "Sport & care" containing only caps, beach items mixed in with workwear). Product titles were catalogue codenames — "FEROX", "PANACEA", "MEDERI" — which tell a buyer nothing about what the product is, and which appear the same way in other stores fed by the same catalogues. Romanian diacritics were corrupted in the import files (MĂRIME UNICĂ came through as M?RIME UNIC?). The project also started without an online store at all: the commercial and operational information a launch needs — payment details, delivery, legal pages — had to be defined and put in place with the client.
01 · The full page

The approach
We built a WordPress block theme with full site editing — every template (header, footer, product, archive, checkout) lives in a version-controlled .html file. There is no visual page builder and no dependency on a proprietary plugin for the interface, so another team can continue the work on standard WordPress structure. The design system runs from a single theme.json: colours, fonts, spacing and radii in one place. For the functions specific to this store we wrote our own dynamic blocks — the expanded menu, the featured product, the product grid, the category showcase and the footer. Plugins stayed limited to what the store needed: WooCommerce, Contact Form 7, LiteSpeed Cache, Admin Site Enhancements. In our own speed study, measured on the same rig across every site tested, the store scored 94 for performance in Lighthouse on a mobile profile.

The solution
Catalogue & product content
- New Romanian titles for all 82 core products in the launch catalogue, built around the product type and its relevant features (e.g. "PANTALONI DAILY" → "Pantaloni de Lucru Multi-Buzunare cu Genunchi Întăriți")
- Concise, edited short descriptions (120–160 characters), written to read well in listings too
- 9 overlapping categories reduced to 6 clear ones — Echipament de lucru, HORECA, Vizibilitate ridicată, Protecție cap, Eco, Genți și accesorii
- Internal supplier codes removed from public-facing content, with display filters that block them if a later import brings them back
- For products that were renamed, previous addresses stay redirected to the current ones (
_wp_old_slug)

Customer experience
- A featured product on the home page — a slim banner card, animated on hover, with a tricolour accent and a "Made in the workshop" label. The team switches it from a WP Customizer panel, without editing code.
- Checkout: country field moved to last position, address-2 toggle in the right slot, single-border payment options, a pulsing "În stoc" indicator, full-bleed product images in the order summary
- Bank transfer fully configured, with branded payment instructions on the confirmation page
- Delivery: a Romania zone with the shipping cost confirmed after the order — the configuration agreed with the client at launch, pending a finished rate card
Operations
- Branded WooCommerce emails (custom
email-header.php+email-footer.phpoverrides) — fir-green wordmark band, full legal entity in the footer, ANPC links - A Contact Form 7 quote form with file upload, an anti-spam question and a branded Romanian auto-reply
- A cookie consent interface built for the project and integrated with Google Consent Mode v2
- WP Customizer panels for the team: Featured Product, Cookies / Analytics
- A branded order confirmation flow, end to end
- Commercial and legal pages (terms, privacy, cookies, delivery, returns) implemented and surfaced at the relevant points in the store
03 · Forms

The stack
WordPress (block theme, FSE) · WooCommerce · PHP 8.3
Contact Form 7 · LiteSpeed Cache · Admin Site Enhancements
Hand-written CSS (no SCSS, no Tailwind) · JavaScript with no framework
Custom dynamic blocks · WP Customizer · WP-CLI for catalogue operations
The result
The team adds products, edits page copy and changes the featured product directly in WordPress, without touching code. At the next catalogue import, the same import/ scripts that built today's catalogue can be reused — the same supplier-code cleanup, the same diacritic repairs — with adjustments if the supplier changes the structure of the files.
The theme and the scripts built for this project stay with PROKEVIN TEX and can be picked up by another technical team, within the licences of the components used.
